The elephant is a strange-looking animal. It has thick and long legs. They look like pillars. It has two very large ears and a long trunk and two white tusks. But its eyes and tail are unusually small. The elephant lives on leaves of trees, plants, fruits and grains. Elephant are generally found in the forests of India, Africa and Burma.
No other animal is as large and strong as the elephant. But it is not at all dreadful and ferocious like the tiger or the lion. Elephants can be tamed and they are generally gentle and good-natured.
The elephant is a useful animal. Its bones and tusks are used to make many valuable things. Elephants are used to draw heavy loads and to pile up logs. They are also used in hunting and in the circus.
