Mars is known as the red planet and one of the most interesting one in our solar system. You must have heard about Mars and aliens in a lot of movies and books. However, with the advancement in space technology, we have come to know a lot about the planet.
Mars is in the fourth position from the sun and is the seventh largest planet in the solar system. It orbits around the sun at a distance of about two hundred twenty-seven million kilometers from the sun. The planet looks red when looked from far and is thus named Mars which stands for the Greek god of war. The red color of the planet is due to the huge quantity of iron found on the plant. The carbon dioxide in the atmosphere oxidizes the iron and turns it into rust which gives the surface of Mars its iconic red color. The surface temperature of the planet is very low and ranges from -133 centigrade to 27 centigrade.
There is currently a Mars rover by the name of Curiosity on the surface of the planet. Curiosity landed on Mars in 2012 and still sends data and information about the surface and atmosphere to scientists back on earth. Mars will surely be the next plane on which humans will set their foot.
