Short Essay on Badminton

Meaning

Badminton is an outdoor or indoor sports activity that can be played for pleasure or at a professional level. Two or four players play it on a badminton court. They use badminton racquets to hit a shuttlecock. The objective of the game is to create a rally so that the shuttlecock is not allowed to fall on the ground. There are scoring rules and there is a winner and a loser at the end of the game. Professionally it is played on a badminton court.

Court

The Badminton court is rectangular in shape and ideally it is 20 feet by 44 feet in size. But when played for fun, it can also be played in open spaces of different sizes. The court is divided into two halves lengthwise by a central net of 5 feet height hung on poles.

Depending on the game two or four players play the game: one of two on either side of the net.

Singles

Singles game is played between two players. Each stands on either side of the net.

Doubles

Doubles game is played between four players. Two players stand on either side of the net. Normal doubles game is played between four men or four women players. The two on each side of the net form one team.

Mixed Doubles

Mixed Doubles game is played between two teams. Each team has one man and one woman player. Each team stands on either side of the net.

Game and rules

The objective of the game is to hit the shuttlecock with the Badminton Racquets to your opponent on the other side of the net. This creates a rally. The aim is not to allow the shuttlecock to fall on the ground. If it falls, then the player who fails to hit it, loses a point, and the opponent scores one point. Each game consists of 21 points. Whoever scores 21 points with a difference of two points first, wins. If there is a 21 all scoring, then it extends to a maximum of 30 points.
