Uses of Water in Our Daily Lives – Short Essay

Water is a liquid that has two molecules of hydrogen and one molecule of oxygen. It is a liquid that is crucial for the existence of all living things. For human beings, it makes up the most significant percentage of our bodies. Therefore, we cannot live without water because it is life. As crucial as it is, water has a lot of uses in our lives.

Different uses of water

Nourishment

We consume water to nourish our bodies and hydrate it. Water is essential for a lot of body functions such as the absorption of nutrients. Water may also contain some minerals that are vital for the body. When you drink it, you nourish yourself. Some of these minerals include calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and phosphorus.

Cleaning

We use water to clean our environment. You use it to do laundry, clean utensils, wash windows and clean floors. You also use water to wipe some surfaces. Maintaining a clean environment is vital for your health and that of your family.

Cooking

Water is crucial for cooking. A lot of soups and stews need water at some point. If you are not going to add some water to your meal, you will still need it to wash some vegetables and rinse some things you want to cook such as meat.

For personal hygiene

Personal hygiene is also crucial for our health. We use water to shower at least once in a day. It helps to get rid of the sweat, dust, and germs that may be on our skin because of the days activities. We also brush our teeth at least once a day and we wash our hands several times in a day.

Cooling the body

There are times when the weather gets too hot, and the body cannot handle the heat. Drinking cold water helps to cool down the body and restore the average body temperature. It leaves you feeling refreshed.

Watering plants and animals

When you have plants or animals that are under your care, you will use your water supply to water the plants and animals for healthy growth and existence.

Water is critical for our daily lives, and these are some of the ways we use it.
